Biography

Dr. Heather Licht is a member of The Orthopaedic Center’s Hand, Wrist, & Elbow team. She is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in the surgery of the hand and treats conditions that involve the bones, tendons, nerves, and muscles of the hand. Dr. Licht believes in applying the least invasive, most effective techniques in surgical treatment and rehabilitation of hand, wrist, and elbow injuries.

Dr. Licht loves the diversity of her speciality of being able to treat all ages and the vast array of disorders and treatment options. She believes that it’s important to listen to her patients compassionately and strive to individualize their care to meet their specific needs.

Dr.lict is very knowledgeable and explains things in detail don't be afraid to ask questions because she will take the time to answer them. I had an ulnar nerve transposition and tennis elbow elbow surgery together, a difficult recovery due to not finding the right therapist. I went to see krisite byrd at TOC in decatur and she was fabulous, fixed me right up and was just the right amount of aggressiveness I needed. Highly recommend her for any of your PT needs, they all were really nice at TOC decatur.

I was diagnosed by the PA'S exam. She was very knowledgeable and made sure I understood what was wrong and explained my options for treatment. When Dr. Licht came in she was professional, knowledgeable and prepared to devote that time to me and my needs. I felt like a team member working with these women to decide not just the risks and rewards but also keeping in mind that I was in a time crunch due to another orthopedic surgery on the opposite side (L) and my (R) wrist dominate hand needed to be ready for 4-6 months of limited assistance from my left shoulder. Together, we decided that the 99% success rate to fix this tendon surgically was the proper course of action in my case. I have both Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis with an extensive history of bone spurs. When I had an allergic reaction to the initial pain medication Dr. Licht's Staff jumped in and I was able to send my friend to go pick it up and bring it to me, this was the day following the proceedure. I am grateful that I found this amazing team. They have the utmost professionalism in EVERY aspect of care. If and when I need more assistance to remain active in my pursuit with my ART, or quality of life as I age, Dr. Licht is MY choice. I had to wait a while to be called back today, but it was worth the wait. The x-ray nurse was very encouraging. When Dr. Licht came in, she sat down and went over my history with me. Absolutely love Dr. Licht she redid the surgeryon my index finger. 3 years after my initial surgery (amputate the top of my index finger) it stated swelling with a fair amount of pain. I chose to go to Dr. Licht as she came highly recommended. She took time to explain what she felt was going on and did surgery. She found inflammation, fluid and a foreign body. It looks and feels so much better. I love the fact that she interacted with me as well as the PA and nurse. I rarely saw the orthopedic that did my initial surgery and he would not answer questions or show any interest in the initial trauma of my finger. Dr. Licht is a breath of fresh air and a talented hand surgeon as well.

This doc was fantastic. She explained things thoroughly and at my level, not a bunch mumbo jumbo med school lingo. She put up with me and all my questions (bless her heart). Great bedside manner.She was the eighth doctor to preform surgery on my hand (she had nothing to do with the prior seven surgeries, if she had, I wouldn't have had to go through eight of them!) and it was the best experience out of the eight. When I told her that, she shrugged it off and replied "Well, I had the easiest one" but it was more than that. It was the entire experience from the initial consultation to the surgery and the follow up.I wouldn't hesitate to go to her again or to recommend her to family and friends. For that matter, because of the way that she conducts herself, her profession and her staff, I think I'd go to her for a surgery that she wasn't even qualified to do and I think she'd do a good job. HahahaI don't have a really high opinion of doctors as a whole. I've seen a lot of them in my sixty something years for a number of different things major and minor and all I have to say about doc Licht is she truly is a credit to her profession and a lot of doctors (and patients) would benefit if they could model what and how she takes care of patients.If you read this doc, thanks again, you rock!

I found Dr Licht to be a very good listener, quick to grasp and identify the problem being described, and one of few who provide feedback and complex information in a very meaningful, understandable way. Rather than being "knife happy," she understood my preference to begin with a conservative, non-surgical approach to see what progress could be gained, a quality I very much appreciate in a physician. Although there may need to be a surgery, we're starting with splints and OT to see if surgery can be avoided (maybe not) or at least delayed (reasonably possible). She explained the surgery so I would have all information for both the surgical and non-surgical options and not only supported but also agreed with my decision to try non-surgical while also assuring me that she would be willing and able to do the surgery. I am fully confident in Dr Litch's expertise, competence, and ability to do the surgery if it becomes necessary.

Dr. Licht now practices at Christus Trinity Mother Francis in Tyler, Texas. She is truly outstanding. I have advanced (she called it "impressive") osteoarthritis joint degernation in my hands, and she is the first physician who has treated me who has given me hope, after just one treatment/visit in her office. I highly recommend her. She listens, allows the patient to partner in decisions, is compassionate and authentic. Highly skilled in her specialty and in her humanity.
