TOC Expands to Meet the Needs of the Tennessee Valley

We are pleased to announce the merger of The Orthopaedic Center (TOC) and OrthoSports Athens (OSA), effective August 1st, 2018. By uniting leaders in orthopaedics, spine, sports medicine, and rehabilitative therapy services, the merger of TOC and OSA provides exciting opportunities to improve care and expand services and accessibility for all patients throughout North Alabama and South-Central Tennessee.

Please join us in welcoming Drs. Patrick Boyett, William Lawrence, Eric Stanford, Blake Boyett, Jason Hatfield and staff to the TOC family!

“I am very excited about the opportunities the merger with OrthoSports Athens creates,” said Jeff Hamilton, Chief Executive Officer, TOC. “By welcoming OSA’s physicians, staff and four locations into TOC’s family, we will be better able to support our patients with expert care closer to their homes, achieving our goal to improve patient outcomes and enhance the overall patient experience.” Hamilton is part of the executive steering committee that will lead the integration of The Orthopaedic Center and OrthoSports Athens.

TOC has been a part of North Alabama’s Orthopaedic community for more than 45 years, dedicated to providing exceptional orthopaedic health care to our community. Once the merger between The Orthopaedic Center and OrthoSports Athens has been completed, the combined entity, which will continue to carry the name of The Orthopaedic Center (TOC), will have over thirty board certified orthopaedic physicians covering all aspects of orthopaedic care using both surgical and non-surgical treatment methods. The team includes board certified orthopaedic specialists in Joint Replacement, Pediatric, Podiatry, Spine, Sports, and Trauma Orthopaedics as well as Pain Management.  Together the merged company will employ approximately 425 people, operate 12 Orthopaedic offices, and 8 Physical & Sports Therapy locations.

This expanded practice will represent the largest orthopaedic, spine and sports medicine group in the state of Alabama. Above all, TOC remains committed to our patients’ personalized care by continually improving access to our various experts. The merger with OSA is a clear example of that commitment. The union will improve TOC’s ability to provide care ranging from preventive orthopaedic care to the latest surgical techniques in a dozen convenient locations throughout our region. And clear communication of current patient information amongst the group’s specialists will be provided by using a shared electronic medical record system across all TOC office locations.

TOC’s main office is located in the Franklin Medical Tower building beside Huntsville Hospital in downtown Huntsville, AL with additional locations at Ardmore, Decatur, Fayetteville, TN, Florence, Guntersville, Madison, Rogersville, Scottsboro, Winfield, and Athens, AL, in the soon to be opened Athens Surgery Center.

TOC is thrilled to be a part of the new Athens Surgery Center. The three-story medical office building is part of the Athens-Limestone Hospital’s Medical East campus near the U.S. 72/Interstate 65 junction in Athens, and it is part of the Huntsville Hospital network. This state-of-the art building will include an outpatient surgery center with six operating rooms, imaging and laboratory services, a retail pharmacy, and physician office space. TOC Athens Orthopaedic Office and TOC Physical Therapy will be located on the second floor of the Surgery Center. The new, larger Athens location will give us the opportunity to offer additional resources to patients in this area of our state.

Again, please join us in welcoming Drs. Patrick Boyett, William Lawrence, Eric Stanford, Blake Boyett, Jason Hatfield and staff to the TOC family!

The pros know the two main causes of injury while playing golf are poor mechanics and overuse.  The more time you spend playing golf, the higher the risk of injury, but there are techniques, precautions, and little secrets to keep everyone safe on the golf course.

Here are some helpful tips for you.
