Alabama’s first Mazor X-assisted spine surgery

Media frenzy today at our local hospital with Dr. Brian Scholl and Dr. Larry Parker giving a first-hand look at the new Mazor X robot system.  Watch your local news for details.

Dr. Brian Scholl, orthopaedic spine surgeon with The Orthopaedic Center (TOC), recently performed Alabama’s first Mazor X-assisted spine surgery at Huntsville Hospital.  Dr. Larry Parker, orthopaedic spine surgeon, is being credentialed to use the Mazor X system.

Using Mazor X robot system allows a surgeon to map out the procedure ahead of time based on the patient’s unique anatomy.  Mazor X 3D surgical planning software is used before surgery to create the ideal procedure for the best possible outcome.

  • Faster recovery due to smaller incisions
  • Fewer post-surgical complications
  • Less exposure to radiation and anesthesia during surgery

The Mazor X robotic system highlight’s TOC’s commitment to providing the region’s most comprehensive robotic surgery program.  TOC physicians also use the Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Technology for knee and hip replacement.
